That distinction matters when the search is over but the calls are not. Stopping the marketplace itself may not update every senior living community or care provider that received the inquiry. Blocking one number is a different job again.
WHAT THE FIRST-PARTY TERMS SAY
As reviewed July 21, 2026, A Place for Mom’s terms say the service and participating organizations may contact a person who supplies a phone number. The terms also say consent for automated calls can be withdrawn by contacting the company or following an opt-out instruction.

The company’s privacy page publishes a communication preference center and a privacy inbox. Those are routes for the marketplace record. They do not say that one marketplace request automatically updates every participating organization’s separate system.

THE PRACTICAL CONSEQUENCE
Change the marketplace communication preference.
Put the marketplace request in writing and keep the sent date.
List only the providers you recognize from the inquiry.
Send each provider its own concise stop-contact request.
Keep replies and reminders separate so one organization’s response is not mistaken for another’s.
WHAT THIS DOES NOT PROVE
A displayed number is not proof of caller ownership. Numbers can be spoofed, reassigned, or misattributed. A recorded message can support a reported association without proving who controlled the displayed number on a particular call. Field Notes will keep those evidence levels separate.
WHAT THIS PUBLICATION WILL TRACK
GeezerKeeper Field Notes will publish when a referral network changes a preference route, privacy contact, provider-sharing term, or when new caller evidence clears a documented boundary. Posts will link the primary source and show the review date.
